Compare the amount you must add to the cart with the shipping charge you would otherwise pay. Spending more only to unlock free shipping is not a saving when the extra spend exceeds the shipping avoided.

The calculation to use

Extra spend to threshold = free-shipping threshold − current cart

Watch for: If the added item is something you already planned to buy, its value is different from buying filler purely to trigger free shipping.
